In today’s society there is such an overwhelming pressure to be “perfect”. To make it it seems you must have the perfect body, perfect hair, perfect clothes, perfect house, etc. What is perfect though?

I don’t know why but I’ve been thinking about this a lot today. You look at celebrities and they add to that pressure. The average girl goes and looks at magazines with pictures of all these famous celebrities who are anything but average. They wear size 0 pants, have their cars that are worth more than most peoples houses and these everyday girls strive to be exactly the same way. 1 in 100 girls between the ages of ten to twenty are starving themselves every day. It’s a heartbreaking statistic. These girls who have the normal weight, see actresses and singers on television who are anything but normal and they set an unrealistic body image for the everyday human being.

Nobody in the world is perfect. We are all made in our own unique way and we should embrace it instead of despise it. Now I know most people out there have a poor self image but when we go to extremes to try and change who we are, something must be done. Maybe the average human being is perfect, not these plastic celebrities plastered all over the media. You ever stop and think of this? Those people we idolize who are paper thin, strive to be like us? That their “perfect” they would like to trade in so they could be “normal” like you and me?

Think about it.
